Maybe we should stop asking people to pay more tax - and start asking where all the money’s going.

@AlanJLSmith Start public finances the other way around. Taxes - levy at a reasonable level- eg flat income tax 30%. Then limit spending to match revenues - no deficits allowed.

@AlanJLSmith @Trader__007 We know where its going. Debt interest, net zero, benefits, migrant hotels, NHS middle managers, vanity projects, foreign aid. This government have done nothing to help the average person.

@AlanJLSmith Ask this guy.
Dyson “hits back at his Remainer critics, defends his tax payments and still stands up for Trussonomics” then wonders if it’s being rich that makes him unpopular.

@AlanJLSmith Bitcoin adoption fixes this, as the government can no longer print money. 🤷♂️ Nothing else fixes this.

@AlanJLSmith The US govt spends $10 trillion per year, which is $100k/yr for 100 million people. Where is all that money going?

@AlanJLSmith @LadyBeatrice45 Government needs to budget at no more than 95% of the prior year’s revenue until we get our debt paid down.

@AlanJLSmith Corruption is at the heart of every high taxed nation, don't be fooled, your taxes will never come down if you continue to be submissive.

@AlanJLSmith Well Brexit has reduced tax revenues by £40bn per annum so perhaps that’s a good start… this means the average household is nearly £2000 worse off every year .. but I guess most right wingers just like to blame ethnic minorities…

@AlanJLSmith £400billion on quangos is not a productive use of taxpayer’s money. Basically hot air taking shops which could easily go.

@AlanJLSmith Maybe someone has lost control of the purse strings! “… the Home Office says it doesn't have figures for the amount of money it spends on taxis at asylum hotels. For instance, when migrants move between hotels, they sometimes keep the same NHS doctors - especially for GP

@AlanJLSmith This is what happens when we have 14 years of self-serving Tories. Labour isn't going to turn it around in a minute.

@AlanJLSmith Been asking for some time, yet to receive answers. Why,no matter how much whichever rabble of fiscally incompetent imbeciles screw things up, the default position is we all have to bail them out. None ever held accountable, all leave the jobs richer than when they went in.

@AlanJLSmith And you need to look back at privatisation/loss of social housing due Thatcher Whereas other countries make £ from state assets we don’t anymore & normal tax doesn’t cover shortfall Housing benefit bill huge, when we built houses we were the landlord now taxpayers pay landlords

@AlanJLSmith There never been so much tax collected so you’re bang on - we should all be asking deeper questions about where it’s spent, how efficiently it’s spent and could we spend less and put more back in tax payers pockets.

@AlanJLSmith That's what I have been saying for a long time. If I compare Germany to UK, I can see where the money goes in Germany. In the UK, no fing clue. Healthcare? Non-existent. Roads? A shambles. Public transport? Flying is cheapter. University education? Student loans.

@AlanJLSmith Its going on debt interest payments. As the debt inevitably rises, so will the tax burden.

@AlanJLSmith It should not be the right of any government to take ever increasing amounts of money from the people to make up for that government’s incompetence and needless extravagance. Accountability should be front and centre with the fear of legal consequences next.

@AlanJLSmith And start getting the Uk's stolen billions back. Confiscate the assets from Covid thieves for a start. A People's Court to trial and sentence the wrong doers.

@AlanJLSmith The taxing isn’t to improve our lives or our health or our country , it’s done to leave you with nothing, and you “will” be happy 😏 That’s why they waste it on green energy , carbon capture, and overseas war and aid .

@AlanJLSmith Alan, we are stuck with wanting high universal benefits whilst at the same time wanting low taxes. This worked when the working population was larger and less folk claimed the benefits. That's now changed and we need to make some choices about which side of the equation we adjust

@AlanJLSmith I genuinely believe most people would not mind paying very high taxes if they could see the money was all being spent in this country for the taxpaying people of this country, instead of spent on illegal migrants or given to other countries.

@AlanJLSmith Weren’t we promised a “line by line” breakdown of the original £22bn black hole? There’s money found for MP’s vanity projects galore and yet we’ll all pay the price.

@AlanJLSmith It’s available you don’t need to ask. OBR, ONS and Treasury are the three principal sources of data and my go to is the OBR public finances guide available on its webpage.

@AlanJLSmith Or we could ask why big corporates are making record profits and paying hardly any tax when people are still being paid the same wages of 15 years ago.

@AlanJLSmith We fund BBC propaganda via the licence fee; and pay for 3rd world invaders to be housed via our council tax just as we’re funding our own digital enslavement via income tax. There’s an instant solution staring us in the face: stop paying to be insulted, humiliated and controlled!
