Wilder: “I don’t want to undo all the hard work…we’re moving forward nicely, but not arrogant enough to believe we’ve cracked it. No shortcuts. We’re playing catch-up. We haven’t got time to slip if we want to achieve something out of this season.” #SUFC

Good, canny, experienced management from Wilder. For me, a big & deliberate downplay of a brilliant performance. If I know him, he’s inwardly as excited as anyone about opportunities higher up. But knows it would be a mistake to communicate that. #SUFC

Maybe this has cropped up elsewhere already but I’ve been thinking about Billy Sharp’s hat-trick for #DRFC v Chesterfield the other night. At 39 years, 300 days, he must have been one of the oldest to do it in the pro game. Here’s all I could dredge up …

FSD save lives. (video update) As many people still don't get the right perspective from the original accident dashcam, I'm uploading a new one with all combined angles (just 4, no space for all 6) to give a more realistic view. I can't adjust for the different perspective

Alan how times change. I have no doubt that there was surface water n the ground. It was the same for both teams and often players can adapt. Given the size of this event. From my warm seat I do think that the referee was premature in his decision to call the game off.

Having to trudge back to Blackburn after today’s abandonment. It never rains but it pours. No better way to sum up #SWFC’s season.

Absolute rubbish decision. Keeper fairly beaten to a ball he should claim. Why do keepers receive such protection when they have the advantage of using hands & arms?

Totally agree. Why should one player, however gifted, think he is different in a team sense from anyone else?

Embarrassing from Mo Salah and disrespectful to his teammates and his manager. Salah is no different from any other player … if a player’s form drops as Salah’s has he is the same as anyone else and has to accept being benched… but he thinks he’s too good to be benched sadly…

Chris Wilder keeping it on a level. “We’ve not cracked anything,” he tells me for talkSPORT. If anything downplaying it. “We had to earn the right against a good side to find the big moments.” Talked of “massive game Tuesday”, feet on floor. ##SUFC

FT #SUFC 4 #SCFC 0. Brilliant from Blades. Four straight wins, 13 goals. Relentless, could have been more. Firsts from McGuinness & Seriki, another from Bamford … & yet another from Sydie Peck; his penalty making it 3 in 3 games. Stoke not at the races.

“Not at the races. #SUFC better than us all over the pitch”: Stoke boss Mark Robins’ verdict. Said his side “way below” the contract with supporters who he was surprised applauded “because we deserved a slap.” Questioned the fight. “Can’t happen again.” #SCFC

Have to ask questions about Blackburn & the state of Ewood Park. How was the non-league game I was at last night (at @HallamFC1860) comfortably completed in relentless heavy rain & a Championship club have another abandonment? 🤷‍♂️

Confidence surging. Sublime stuff. How was this team ever bottom? HT #SUFC 3 #SCFC 0. Two special goals for McGuinness & Seriki, their first for the club. Seriki’s particularly tasty. Then another from Bamford. His 2nd already, from Seriki’s cross.

Unsung hero in the early #SUFC goal, Patrick Bamford. Great work down the right to win the corner Hamer swung in for a fine Mark McGuinness header. 1-0

Like to show some consideration. It’s not as if we’re serial winners in Australia! But this really is appalling from England. No other way to call it. #Ashes

If I’m right from info I stumbled on at the time, the Storch people were among the last to try to deal directly with #SWFC’s former owner. Fled deeply frustrated - but, according to this piece, intent on rejoining the game. As before, a way to go it seems…

Medals being struck for players, officials, ground staff - & all 380 odd hardy spectators. Their number included a young guy I met, @Jack_Turner01 , who’d motored all the way up from St. Albans - just to take in the world’s oldest ground.

No fannying around with a World Cup draw here! @HallamFC1860 1 @PonteCollsFC 1. Great game in the conditions - not that the pitch was anything but a star. The two number 9s (Joe Lumsden & Charlie Litchfield) with the goals as Hallam came from behind.
