JSD's books changed my life in a very positive way, it made me go down the rabbit hole and read the post-/de-colonial literature that helped me a lot in making sense of the world. You can criticise the book as much as you want but dismissing it as "propaganda" is very immature.

My hottest religious take is Except 4 Vedas, Mahabharat +Gita and Ramayan most hindu Puranic text is sectarian garbage wrote to either legitimise their ooga booga practices or caste hierarchy. Some of these so called "Purans" are also very blasphemous towards rival sect Gods.

Indian filmmakers need to look beyond Ramayana and Mahabharata, there is a rich library of amazing stories in the Puranas and our rich Nataka tradition. The latter specially, there are so many masterpieces waiting to land on the big screen.
