When she isn't working as a scientist or personal physician for the pilots, she's enjoying a hot cup off coffee, spending her days with Maya Ibuki along with her cats, Velvet and Ginger. She owns a Beretta model 84FS like in the manga.

Ritsuko and Maya would later meet and develop a close relationship, due to Ritsuko never making the mistake of getting close to Gendo like Naoko did, she never came to hate Rei. She takes a more gentle approach with the pilots and looks after their medical needs personally.

After her mother had taken Rei 1's and her own life, Ritsuko would become the new chief scientist as the organization transitioned to Nerv, where she would become more akin to how she's portrayed in the first two Rebuild films.
