Many people experience a temporary loss of smell ("anosmia") as a result of #COVID19 infection - why? Based on this autopsy study, it looks like anosmia is due to inflammation of the nerves at the level of the nose rather than in the brain. https://t.co/VE1BfOijud

Although I went on investigating multiple cases and tracing their contacts, yesterday I had to interview the family of a COVID19 deceased individual. It was emotionally tough part of the investigation.

Interesting viewpoint about #COVID19 infecting other animals & acting as a "reservoir" for future infection. Already appears to be human->mink->human transmission. Animal reservoirs lower chances of eradication and further highlights need for a vaccine. https://t.co/5F1YEd5Mjd

Their data suggests that asymptomatic individuals infected by SARS-CoV-2 may contribute to virus transmission within the workplace. Very neat findings and comes in a right time!

5-6wks of observation. The data reveal a high degree of asympt infection, a strong correlation between RNA detection and the presence of infectious virus in NP swabs, persistent RNA in a subset of individuals, and declining incidence over time.
