An S4 severe solar radiation storm is now in progress - this is the largest solar radiation storm in over 20 years. The last time S4 levels were observed was in October, 2003. Potential effects are mainly limited to space launch, aviation, and satellite operations.

It’s definitely there. But so is a fair bit of cloud. Use your phone camera and you might be lucky. A few small cloud gaps here in Cheshire revealing a red aurora. #Aurora
A fast moving coronal mass ejection (CME) means the northern lights may be visible overnight, and perhaps on Tuesday night too The arrival time of the CME is uncertain, but aurora sightings are possible in northern Britain and perhaps in southern areas depending on cloud cover.

Tonight’s Wolf Moon, with Jupiter close by. As close as I can get to Jupiter with a 600mm lens vaguely reveals its iconic stripes. Oh, and there’s quite a few stars out there that the camera sees that our eyes don’t. The night sky is amazing. #WolfMoon #SuperMoon2026 #Jupiter 💫

Great to picture this former firefighting behemoth departing @EMA_Airport in February. Once modified to drop approximately 73,000 litres of water, this Boeing 747 now operates as a pure freighter for @GoNationalAir , but retains its red fire fighting colours. #AirbusRedBestOf2025
