100 years ago today, our flag was stolen…

I had a request for pictures of Billy Gonzales, the interim HC at Florida. I knew him at CSU as students, he went to Thornton HS and I went to Northglenn. Nice to see a Ram like him doing well. He had some great coaches when he was a @CSUFootball player in 1992. @CSUAlumni

This was one of my favorite stories to write this year because I got to communicate with John Laurita. Great guy, tough Ram through and through. I will always honor this team, 1990 truly was a turning point in our football history. @CSUFootball @CSUAlumni

October 8, 2016 was the last homecoming game at Hughes Stadium. Rams beat Utah State 31-24 in part thanks to this touchdown. @CSUFootball @CSUAlumni

Homecoming at CSU as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of this flag that was stolen in 1925. Who will be the @CSUFootball player to carry this flag that once flew over Colorado Field? Find out Saturday. CSU has only lost 2 homecoming games since it was brought back in 2014.

No @CSUFootball this week, so why not post uniform history. Which leather helmet uniform style and which plastic helmet style is your favorite of these? There are no wrong answers. @CSUAlumni we have 1939, 1949, 1954 and 1980.

This is my second story of the 2025 season, the 1925 Aggies are one of my favorites. If I could go back in time to one year and watch @CSUFootball before WWII, this is the team I would see. A different kind of football for sure. BTW, Hughes never should have made the Hawaii trip.

Visiting El Paso for the first time this weekend. I had to visit the stadium CSU modeled Hughes Stadium after. Built in 1962, the Sun Bowl will bring Rams fans back to reliving memories of Hughes.

I ate dinner at Coopersmith’s Tuesday and saw this picture on the wall. This is a fire hose cart racing team. The first @CSUFootball head coach, William J. Forbes died in June of 1900 running with one of these teams in Loveland when he slipped and it ran him over. @CSUAlumni

OTD, January 7, 1893, the State Agricultural College foot-ball team traveled to Longmont by train, bought green and orange ribbon to pin to their shirts and played the 1st football game in school history. Happy 132nd birthday @CSUFootball. @CSUAlumni (photo taken 1-25-1893)

I get more compliments on that jacket than anything else I’ve ever worn CSU or anything else. John Weber asked me today if I pulled it from the archives. I told him no, I’ve just worn it for 24 years, I’m just that old now.
