Congratulations to Lydia Johnson (Agricultural Education – Communication Option ’24) who was named the Ag Relations Council's ARC/C.O.nxt scholarship recipient. This national scholarship is awarded yearly to one agricultural communications student. #CALSproud

On April 24, AgEdS department students Nathan Behrends, Meredith Kellen, Mickayla McGill, and Blake Van Der Kamp were inducted into the Cardinal Key Honors Society. The department is #CALSproud of the accomplishments of our hardworking students.

Alumni Antoine Alston (PhD Agricultural Education and Studies '00) recently co-wrote a book about the history of the NFA organization. Alston's book, "The Legacy of the New Farmers of America," will be released on Monday, May 2. Learn more below.

The AgEdS 488 class took their classroom to Gilbert High School where Mr. Adam Davis visited with them about lab preparations, management, and assessments. Students will be able to apply this knowledge to their future student teaching experiences. #calslearning

Successful Farming editors Laurie Bedord (in black) and Megan Schilling (in grey) met with AgEdS 327 students to discuss the process of creating Successful Farming - College Edition. The publication seeks to meet the needs of younger agriculturalists. #CALSlearning

The AgEdS department is proud to sponsor the Iowa FFA Agricultural Education Proficiency Awards. Dr. Michael Retallick presented the award on behalf of the department at the 94th Iowa FFA State Leadership Conference.

Sara Gillum, senior in AGLSE-Communication, received the National Agricultural Communicators of Tomorrow Arthur Leal Memorial Study Abroad Scholarship. Gillum will travel to the United Kingdom with her Animal Science 496 International Travel Tour class. #CALSproud.#CALSglobal

Students in the AgEdS 388 Agricultural Mechanics Application class have been applying their measurement and marking skills to create reinforcement plating for the Iowa State University Composting Facility's hoop structures. #calslearning

The department is #CALSproud of the PAS Chapter for their success at the PAS National Convention during Spring Break. The chapter competed in 20 events and brought home multiple national titles. Visit the article to view a full list of results.

Patrice Bailey, '01 MS agricultural education and studies, was instrumental in the creation of Minnesota's new agricultural license plate. As Minnesota's Assistant Agricultural Commissioner, Bailey reviewed plates that would garner support for 4-H & FFA.
