Don’t make a secret deal with Trump, Mr. Carney. After the election, your elbows seem to be down. Put any deal to Canadians to decide in a referendum. Read insightful op-ed by Christopher Holcroft @LindaMcQuaig @MaudeBarlow #cdnpoli #abpoli #bcpoli https://t.co/48ZTda3D6u

Linda McQuaig writes terrific fiction too. The Road to Goderich just came out. What a great read. Best book I’ve read in a few years. It’s a great tale, characters very well drawn, spare style, tightly woven, fits together like a complex puzzle, great unexpected turns,

It takes more than mighty construction projects to build a nation. Human services like public healthcare are equally important to growth, jobs, innovation & investment. Here's an open letter signed by 275 🇨🇦 economists & health policy experts: https://t.co/IO4BBcXAoh #cdnecon /2

But there were two anachronistic omissions that will strike contemporaries: the male-centric language and the notable oversight of the rights of first nations. These derelictions were soon set right during the Waffle’s brief life (1969-1974).

The Waffle movement for an independent socialist Canada, a ginger group within the New Democratic Party is an inspiration for today’s resistance to Trump’s annexation threats. The Manifesto was a product of its time. Most of it stands up very well today.

Trump’s threats to annex Canada, Greenland and Panama make the 1969 Waffle Manifesto more apropos than ever. “The major threat to Canadian survival today is American control of the Canadian economy. The major issue of our times is not national unity but national survival,

My father Stephen Lewis is spectacularly uninterested in social media, so I’m posting this myself (though he has read it and is prepared to suffer the indignity of all I'm about to reveal). When he was Canada’s ambassador to the UN from 1984-88, Dad was truly shocked by the

Are exporting resources all the premiers & prime minister can think of to build an economy independent from the US? Back to hewers of wood & drawers of water is not progress. We are capable of so much more. What about manufacturing, high tech & a care economy? @LindaMcQuaig

Remember when Carney said "Trump is trying to break us, so America can own us". Oh, That was the election. Today Carney met behind closed doors with Big Oil. They pose as Canadian but all are a majority U.S owned. What happened to elbows up? @LindaMcQuaig @MaudeBarlow #cdnpoli
