Prov 20:30 is descriptive, not a command to beat kids bloody. It says harsh pain CAN deter evil—it doesn’t say parents must inflict it.

Then there’s Prov 20:30 KJV: “The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil.” Many used this to say bruises = proof you obeyed God. That’s a misreading.

Real verse: Prov 13:24 “He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him disciplines him diligently.” Rod = shepherd’s staff, symbol of guidance.
