We are very excited to welcome a new addition to the AVA team, hello to Gertie, our new AVA office mascot who was knitted for us by the wonderful Marian. Gertie will be a great edition to our team and is spreading the message about enriching your life through volunteering.

Our Lancing office will be closed on Monday 1st December for a training day, we will be open as usual on Wednesday 3rd December.

💷 Arts Council England’s Project Grants programme is open for creative and cultural projects across England, offering grants of up to £100,000. This fund supports individuals, community arts organisations, museums, libraries and wider cultural activity.

This is a great opportunity for smaller and medium-sized charities supporting older people to access ongoing, unrestricted funding for community projects. Find out more 👉🏻

There are no deadlines, and applications are accepted at any time throughout the year, offering flexibility for organisations to plan and apply when ready.

The Foundation welcomes applications from charities delivering front-line services that make a real difference to older people’s wellbeing, safety, and independence within their communities.

The programme supports community-based services that improve quality of life and provide practical and emotional assistance to older individuals. Projects may focus on:

💷 The Charles Hayward Foundation’s Older People Programme is offering grants of up to £7,000 to UK-registered charities that help older people remain in their own homes and live independently for as long as possible.

What’s available: - A total budget of £40,000. - Grants of up to £10,000 for each project. Projects must start during or after December 2025 (or have had a pilot phase) and be delivered by the applying hospice in partnership with a community/arts organisation.

Hospice UK’s “Dying Matters Community Grants Programme,” supported by Dignity Funerals, invites hospices across the UK to apply for funds to create small arts and culture projects that foster discussions about death, dying, and grief, especially in underrepresented communities.

You’ll plan & cook a varied menu, manage food budgets, maintain excellent food safety standards & support the café and community food offer. The role also includes supervising volunteers, helping shape the menu, and ensuring kitchen equipment and records meet required standards.
