Amorim trying to build front-first in his first season. To crack top 4 conversations, he simply needs 50 goals from his 2x 10s + CF trio. I think Mbuemo/Cunha/Amad can bring 22-30 of them in those creator/support roles, the issue is the CF. Watkins would be a good signing.

Tbh having said that, I still can’t 100% get my head around *how* well Maguire handled that. It’s probably a touch more than that you would expect. Zero complaints, zero transfer request, top trainer supposedly, good with the young players. Can only tip your hat to it.

Also a big generational problem. TikTok/streamer culture; players live in validation loops nowadays - it consumes them. Compare how Maguire handled being stripped of captaincy + being benched to his younger peers, which was more humiliating.

I honestly think Mount would be a key player for Tuchel’s England if he stays fit for 10 mins. The only real player of this ilk I can think of. The rest all want the ball, but in a playground type of way.

When I think of England at their best under Southgate, Lingard often pops to mind. Him & Alli as aggressive, pressing duel 8s who were willing runners. Letting attacks run through the forwards like Kane, Rashford etc.

England need to place more emphasis on off-the-ball players. Lots of ball-magnets now, but none are pulses. None do what say Vitinha or Pedri do for these lot.

Yeah, horrendous drop off tbf. It’s mostly CR7’s fault, in the sense he transitioned the scope of football development: the best young players now get developed as inside forwards. Even from that 2020 list, Mbappe, Isak, Thuram etc. have wide tendencies.

These teams are player-first teams. Inter less-so, but as far as 5atb teams go, they do provide a lot of freedom for their key profiles. Great old school profiles too in the likes of Dumfries. Their modern Maicon.
