The criticism from Jewish voters has come from both more conservative Orthodox voters & relatively liberal Reform Jews like Rabbi Angela Buchwald, who said Mamdani helped “mainstream” antisemitism. 12/x

Many Jewish voters I spoke to expressed concerns about Mamdani, particularly his blaming of Israel for issues within the NYPD, & say they will not be safe under his administration. Jews are the target of most hate crimes in NYC, per police data. 11/x

Many Muslim voters I spoke to said they agree with Mamdani on Gaza, though some pointed to his stances on the economy & the fact that he represents South Asians/Muslims as more compelling reasons for their support. 10/x
