This school year is kicking my ass. I’m exhausted by the attitudes of both coworkers and students.

There is no reason school shootings should be “a fact of life”. The fact that we have tried every other solution and it keeps happening makes it even more clear, the issue is weak gun control.

This was a long post to say, every day despite the struggles of this age group I finally found what I’m meant to do and I love my job. And I answered his question, no I wouldn’t because I don’t think 13 year old adam could’ve dealt with social media.

Who need the most guidance and desperately need an adult they trust as they develop a sense of trust. You play an integral part of their development, many times not realizing until they students graduate and leave (that’s often when they realize as well).

Working in a middle school as an adult is like knowing the end of a movie and everyone else is figuring it out. You come in with the knowledge that almost everything these kids worry about won’t matter in 5 years (sometimes even in 5 minutes). You can provide guidance to kids

Yesterday after teaching summer school, I was talking to a current student of mine who came to visit. He asked me if I could, would I go back and be a middle schooler? It took me a while to answer, but it also made me realize why I love my current job and working with these kids
