Drury used waivers as leverage for those two. Zibanejad, with a NMC, cannot be placed on waivers. His NMC is in place until February 2030 and his contract is virtually buyout-proof. If Zibanejad wants to stay I'm not sure what Pagnotta thinks Drury can do about it.

Not sure what this is supposed to refer to. Trouba and Goodrow both had partial no-trade clauses. I can't think of any incident involving a player with a NMC.

I just don't really agree. For instance, last night: Drives the middle lane, takes out TWO (!!!) defensemen with him. Sheary can walk to the puck to the net. That's textbook. If Matthew Tkachuk did this we'd drool over it for 30 minutes. Not his fault his linemate can't score.

Big picture: He's played about as well as expected and his stock is as high as ever. Immediate picture: He has some small details to work out off the puck and I think NYR are happy to let him figure it out in a lower-stakes environment for now.

Gabe Perreault has been excellent in the AHL this season but I do want to caution about pure stat-watching. He's taken advantage of some really bad goaltending the last few games. No NHL goaltending is misjudging their depth/angling this poorly.
