These two games in Philly have been so eerily similar. Phenomenal pitching for 6 innings. 3 runs for Philly in both 7th innings. 2 runs for Philly in both 8th innings.

Jack Flaherty allowed two hits thru 6+ innings. Flaherty, Holton, Vest, Hanifee and Hurter went on to allow 5 ER on 7 hits and 1 BB over the next two innings. A Scott Harris masterpiece.

The Tigers acquired 5 relief pitchers via trade this week. None have an ERA less than 4.38 this season with at least 1 appearance (Dobnak and Heuer have only 1 appearance each). They also added Luke Jackson last week, whose ERA is currently 4.78.

Scott Harris’ approach to this deadline was to throw a bunch of crap at the wall and simply hope some of it sticks.

I feel like I would’ve been happier if the only trade the Tigers made was to acquire Kyle Finnegan. Because all of the moves they made as a whole is an admission by Harris that his team does in fact have numerous pitching issues, but that he’s unwilling to truly address them.
