It was more a comment on the sad state of affairs when so many teams have tried and failed. Many with deeper pockets. Something has to change to make it more viable. We chose to diversify, but ultimately means we're now focused on those other projects as esports is a minefield.

This was never meant as an announcement of us ditching esports, we would never, and hope to return with the right opportunity. We stand by our experience, approach and success. We just need more brands to join us on the journey. Something we are still looking for. #neverstop

Be it real value fan engagement, media/broadcast rights, a talent pipeline that works consistently, or wider publisher / TO support, who knows. In my opinion there also needs to be a post covid correction in player demands and more open competitive ecosystems, (6/7)

but for now we are focused on areas of the business that are showing growth. I really hope the UK scene has a revival and brands come back in to the market, but most of all I pray for that key revenue driver to be realised, away from sponsorships. (5/7)

This one hurts. We worked extremely hard to avoid this, but the landscape in the UK esports is different these days in regards to funding, brands e.t.c. The changes to the VRS system just compound that. No fault of the players and I hope they find new homes.
