Man on bus to me, a wheelchair user: “It’s not fair that I have to give up my seat so you can get on.” Bus driver: “The bus is almost empty. Please take another seat. This one is wheelchair priority.” Man: “It’s unfair to favor disabled people” Access isn’t favoritism.

@MamaSitaa__ I hate feeling like whenever I show happiness and that I can laugh or have a good time, people immediately think I must be lying about my condition or now I must be “all better” 🙄

@MamaSitaa__ People aren't faking being sick they are faking being ok. Every time I see someone out in public they ask how am I doing, when I actually start in on the list of things that aren't working they reply always falls to *Well you look great*. Appearances are deceiving.

Something I wish able-bodied people realized about chronic illness is that I am not better if you see me doing things, I am doing that in spite of my illness and I will pay for it heavily later. There is not a single breath I take that I won't owe suffering for later.

Me, a wheelchair user to medical office employee: “Is the office wheelchair accessible?” Employee: “We have one step at the entrance. Maybe you’d be better off with another provider.” Me: “Maybe you’d be better off providing a ramp and not turning away disabled people.”

Just saw a guy ask a woman for help in the supermarket in understanding the difference between various dairy products. He thanked her and she happily said “you’ve got this!” It was heartwarming. #TinyKindness

@DrSarteschi It’s especially egregious when grifters with no background in science or mental health and who’ve never seen the devastation of severe mental illness feel entitled to spread misinformation about its nature and treatment.
