3rd graders were structural engineers this week. They designed and built landslide barriers. They had 3 criterias: (1) Use at least 3 different materials, (2) Sediment from the landslide must not touch the cars, (3) No debris on the road. 🚧🚨

Today at Science Adventure Camp, students showed and described how electrical energy moved through a closed circuit to produce light and heat. They also recognized and classified materials as either conductors or insulators of thermal and electrical energy. @NISDElemScience

After reading I Survived the Sinkjng of the Titanic 1912, students received passenger tickets and researched their assigned travelers. Before learning their fates, they predicted survival based on ticket class and other clues.

These dedicated students gave up their recess to clean up trash on the playground, bringing their own supplies to get the job done. They proudly call themselves FTE, short for "Friend of the Earth."

It was Kite Day in 3rd Grade today! 🎏 Our third graders explored energy and force in a hands-on way. They observed how wind energy creates lift and how forces like gravity and tension affect flight. It was a fun and exciting way to see science in action!

The little people designed and built model rollercoasters to explore the principles of force and energy. Through hands-on experimentation, they investigated how gravity, friction, and the conversion between potential and kinetic energy affected the motion of their coasters.
