In this first issue founding members of the Academy of Social Science provide overviews of key ideas and themes that can help us see the necessity and the potential of a Sociology of Freedom, recognizing the crises we face while refusing to abandon the necessity of our mission.

We are excited to announce the first issue of the journal of the Academy of Social Science, Democratic Modernity! The journal has the same mission as the Academy of Social Science: to enrich and reweave the moral and political fabric of society.

Quincy Saul expressed the connection between music, art and social science, talking about the suite he played at the event: "Learning how to play in a new time signature can correspond to the epistemological shift that we need to begin thinking in a new way".

4. Cooperation: The Academy’s fourth and final pillar is deepening relations and practical solidarity between movements and intellectuals through seminars, conferences and other gatherings.
