For the first time in the history of the GAA, Alhamdulilah, it’s a real honour to be the first Muslim and Arab for a tournament to be named after me in recognition of my work in GAA, Diplomacy, Diversity, Equality and Inclusion.
Here’s the launch of ‘The Abdullah Al Jumaili 7s’!

I speak on behalf of the real Irish people.
The Irish people with morals, ethics and values and who has respect for humanity.
Such great people are the majority of Ireland.🇮🇪🇵🇸
Today I have received a gift from the city of Hebron - the Irish kufiya, ‘Saoirse’, dedicated to the Irish people. It holds deep & symbolic value and serves as an icon of resistance, struggle and freedom. Go raibh maith agat 🇮🇪🇵🇸
I fully condemn the acts displayed by a small-minded group of anti-democratic people up North. It is disgusting to see such acts of hate in the 21st century.
Hurling is a transferable skill - anyone who puts their head to it can hurl. Hurling does not belong to a certain race, it belongs to all human race. It is our obligation as hurlers & fanatics of the game to hurl the message of tolerance, acceptance, diversity & inclusion!
#GAA
I’m here with my

@CBP
said you can’t enter “because you were born in Iraq”. Absolutely sickening and literally insulting.
“There’s no place for refugees to integrate in Ireland” - read this statement couple of times over the last couple days.
Yes there is - The GAA!
There was a place for me. And I fully integrated.
Did I lose my identity? Absolutely not.
Am I proud Arab Irish☘️? Course I am!
1884: Michael Cusack founded the

Just arrived in Derry. Checked in to hotel. Was using the elevator - doors open, I go in, and a person in the elevator says “You the GAA lad on Twitter - Abood/Bonnar”. “I am yes” I said while I smiled! “Following the great work you are doing. Keep it up” he said.
Irish Muslims praying in the heart of where the GAA held its first meeting, Thurles.
That's what Ireland stands for - a country for all.
Diversity enriches us. It enriches a whole nation.
Absolutely brilliant to see.
🇮🇪🇵🇸
What happened in Dublin City yesterday is absolutely sickening & must be strongly condemned by all respected Irish men & women
Ireland is based on immigration. And every immigrant is welcome 🇮🇪
Yet again yesterday was another proof that the extreme far rights have 0 brain cells
Look at this Muslim lady who's trying her best to learn English and the GAA in her new home Ireland.
She's more of an Irish patriot than the fake 'Irish Patriots' and thugs who think they know Ireland.
Young Irish Muslims receiving the GAA participation medals in Dublin.
Brilliant to have been involved in this where everyone who participated and helped out had a marvellous day!
🇮🇪🇵🇸
In East Belfast, there are people making inappropriate bonfires, effigies and spreading hate amongst children. At the same time, there are people of diverse backgrounds playing sport. Which is more healthier, positive and prosperous for overall society and it’s future I wonder!
Shocked to learn of the passing of honourable lady and influential Irish singer Shuhada Sadaqat aka Sinéad O’Connor.
My deepest sympathies and condolences are with her family & friends in this tough time.
May Allah rest Shuhada's soul in peace. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.
Without prejudice, I hope those anti-refugee protesters can learn a thing or two from this former refugee.
I have spoken & done talks at many primary & secondary schools in Ireland where more than likely one of your children was there. Please don’t ruin their knowledge & success!
Played a Gaelic football match. Won the ball in half forward line and ran towards goals! I went for a point but I missed.
One of the spectators screamed “Ahh Jesus Christ Abdullah!” Another man turned around to him and said “I don’t think Jesus Christ and Abdullah go together”😂
My younger brother got racially abused in a GAA match in Dublin after he won the ball in an U13 hurling game & got called the N word twice.
I’m after getting informed that the parents (not even the club) have decided to stop him from playing for a couple of weeks.
Disgraceful.
In Turkey, strolling around the markets of Istanbul with my hurl. This lad asked me what I was carrying.
I explained hurling to him. He really liked it and called his friend from the other shop to come along and have a look at it!
Peoples reaction walking by are priceless!
Why would a United Ireland involve a new flag?!
A flag that has been gifted to Ireland by a group of French women in 1848.
🟢 for Catholics
⚪️ for Peace & Harmony
🟠 for Protestants
I could not think of a better flag for a United Ireland but this 🇮🇪.
Just walked out of Centra. Bought a drink and as I was leavening, a customer, a man in his 60s, who was beside me at the next cashier, tapped me on the back and said “Keep up the great work!” Made my night so it did!
Introduced Hurling at the Dubai World Trade Center this morning.
Both locals & expats were fascinated by it. I showed them a video on how it’s played- they couldn’t believe it!
One local said excitingly “Whaaaaaat! And there’s a red card in it as well!”😅
Lovely Hurling!
#GAA
When I was in Batu Caves, there was a London family who asked me to take a photo for them. “No bother at all” I said. “You’re from Ireland?” they asked. “Yes I am indeed” I replied. “We can tell from the accent” they said.
Refereed a

grounds in
#Belfast
. After tournament, I walked to the clubhouse and lads from
#Dungannon
said “You the lad who was hurling against the walls of
#Stormont
?!” “Yes” I replied. “Absolutely amazing, fair play to you”and shook my hands!
On a visit to
#Ballyhaunis
, Co.
#Mayo
, I was hurling against the wall at the local mosque. After about 20mins, I heard someone hurling against a wall too. The lad I’m hurling with in this video has approached me by him putting his hurl and sliotar up in the air…
With all due respect, perhaps you might be in a foreign country mo chara! A country that celebrates its diversity in all its forms.
If you don’t understand this “nonsense”, make an attempt to understand it so!
Maith an fear!
Some people aren’t happy with the fact that I’m integrating my Arab and Irish culture together.
The Irish are the Arabs of Europe. And the Arabs are the Irish of the Middle East.
Always be proud of your identity - that’s what my Arab and Irish culture taught me.

Delighted to hear that Irish woman Blinne Ni Ghralaigh who has and will be making the whole Irish nation proud has been named as one of the lawyers who will support South Africa 🇿🇦 in the International Criminal Court.
Go n-éirí leat Blinne from all of us in Ireland. 🇮🇪🇵🇸
History has been made today as I have attended my first soccer match in Paradise to watch

I have to say some lovely soccer on display!
Comhghairdeas to The Bhoys on a great win!👏🏽☘️
I went into the Turkish Delight market this evening. The lads seen the hurl & started asking me about it. I explained hurling to them & showed them it on YouTube! They were fascinated by it! One lad said “That’s amazing. It’s something different” They posed with the hurl too!
Hurling away in the middle of Fatih, Istanbul. A hotel receptionist was watching me do this - after I finished he started clapping and said “Bravo!!” I went into the hotel, greeted them in Turkish & started explaining to them what it is and that’s it’s Ireland’s national sport!🇮🇪
To the “just because you play GAA and speak Irish doesn’t mean you’re Irish” - yes it does. Being Irish is a way of living.
There are more people making an effort in integrating to society than those racists making such remarks.
Flicking the ball with my hurley in Arab sandals!
I met Mustafa (who’s from Iraq living in Istanbul) when I was hurling in Sultanahmet. I started explaining hurling to him in Arabic. He wanted to give it a go! I showed couple skills before hand. I am absolutely amazed how quickly he got the gist of it! Now that’s lovely hurling!
Making history and breaking the mould for people from all different backgrounds, cultures and faiths to participate within

Dublin City Council have voted to fly the flag of Palestine over City Hall 🇮🇪🇵🇸.
Another reason why the people of Ireland are one of the best in the world. 🌎
Haters will say it’s fake. But for the majority of Irish people it’s not.
Because Irishness is a culture that welcomes everyone who appreciates and cherishes it.
Now that’s lovely hurling!
Croke Park, named after Archbishop Thomas Croke (may God rest his soul in peace), one of the GAA's first patrons, is steeped in Irish history.
And this moment is certainly historic.☘️
When I was in
#Kilkenny
, I said to myself I can not be here and not visit the The Hurley Depot, Kilkenny. When I walked in the manager recognised me! “What you are doing is great work!” he said - gifted me a Cooper helmet to support my work ethos and to keep on promoting hurling.
Over the last couple of days, I have been receiving many racial abuse on Twitter because of who I am. A Muslim, Arab, Irish. Lots of Islamphobic comments from the so called "Irish Patriots" that don't even know their own history. 1/4
When I visited

they pointed out to me a white square metal in the middle of the wall. They said to me that “a lot of people use this as a target when practicing their

I have received this email today. Due to confidentiality, I will not be declaring the sender’s name. My response can be found within.
As a proud Irishman, equality and the advancement of human rights is important to me. Every human has rights, and this must be respected.
When the invasion happened in Iraq, didn’t know what Croke Park was.
When I moved to Ireland, still didn’t know what Croke Park was.
When I started playing GAA, then I started to know more about Croke Park! 1/3
I’ve got asked many times, “what would you identify yourself as, an Arab or an Irish? You got to choose only one.”
My response is I can’t choose one. I grew up in an Arab culture and an Irish culture.
I have flourished in both.
Alhamdulilah agus Buíochas le Dia.

Hurling at the Bantu Caves.
Whilst I was on the stairs talking to the guys who work at Bantu Cave, I heard someone shout "Put the hurl up!" I looked up and it was two Irish women (visiting also) with a camera waving at me. They also cheered "Up the Dubs!"

Went into an Irish pub in Istanbul. The owner is a Turkish man who loves Ireland. He has a Carlow GAA jersey up in the ceiling. I asked “What’s the Carlow jersey doing up in the ceiling?” He said “I have it there because Carlow will never win the All-Ireland” 😂😂

A polish lady just stopped me at a supermarket in Blanchardstown. I didn’t know who she was. “I love your passion for hurling” she said.
Now that made my Friday so it did!
Lovely lovely hurling!
It has been quite a journey to say the least. From moving to 🇮🇪 as a refugee, not speaking a word of English to graduating in Law LLB (Hons) - one of the hardest & tough fields to get into & graduate from. But what got me to where I am today is commitment, determination & belief.
When I was in
#Istanbul
, I went into one of the restaurants and ordered a bitta lunch. The owner (who was Turkish) started talking to me and he straight away knew I was Irish from the accent. So I started telling him about

It is with great pleasure to announce that

Have you ever heard St. Patrick’s Day wishes in 3 languages all together?

Attended a wedding in Kildare. It went on till 1am. I didn’t have a lift back home. Hotel Mgr. who is from India offered to give me a lift. “Are you sure?” I asked. “Yes sir. We follow your work on social media & we love it. We are very supportive of it.”
An absolute gentleman!

I would like to thank everyone for their kind messages re: the racist comments I received from the fake Irish "patriots" yesterday.
Ireland is rich in diversity. Rich in education. Rich in genuine, professional & lovely people.
The young generation are the future of Ireland! 🇮🇪
I was gifted the “Saoirse Shemagh,” a 🇵🇸-made that embraces the 🇮🇪 flag.
It is a symbol of liberty & freedom. It is a heartfelt tribute to the resilient spirit of the Irish people.
“Saoirse” embodies the shared values of determination, independence and cultural heritage.
On this day, Ireland lost one of its greatest heroes, Michael Collins. A man who will be remembered for honour, dignity and reconciliation. I pray to Allah for his soul to Rest in Peace, Amen.
Despite some racism, resistance and unconstructive criticism, what a great feeling to know that you are making a positive change and a difference in society and peoples lives - a new and modern

I walked in to an Arab restaurant in Istanbul with the hurl in my hand. There was a group of Iraqis having dinner. They opened a conversation about what I had in my hand. I started explaining hurling to them in Arabic. I love it when I explain hurling in a different language!🇮🇪🇮🇶
Introduced The GAA in Jumeirah Lakes today!🇦🇪🇮🇪
People walking by were amazed as per usual.
Ali approached me to learn more about it. I explained The GAA & hurling to him. He managed to roll lift the ball too! And that made his day!
Now that’s seriously lovely hurling!
