Closer to those who need us. Re-establishing our presence in #Syria means more than aid, it’s renewed hope. This important step ensures that we reach more people, help rebuild lives, and stand with communities on their path to recovery.
IOM welcomes the decision by Syrian authorities to re-establish its official presence in-country, enabling scaled-up humanitarian aid & long-term recovery support across #Syria. This marks a key step to reach more people in need & help communities rebuild.

Thank you @MusaliaMudavadi for a forward-looking exchange on strengthening migration governance & regional coordination. #Kenya’s leadership & Nairobi’s role as a strategic hub are critical to advancing initiatives like the Shirika Plan & promoting safe & regular migration.
Held a forward-looking and productive engagement with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Chief of Staff, Mohammed Abdiker Mohamud, where we reflected on the strong and enduring partnership between Kenya and IOM, and Nairobi’s strategic role as a vital regional hub

At the border, I saw families arriving with nothing; tired, scared and uncertain of their future. IOM and partners only have resources to support 1 in 10 who need urgent help. It is a situation no one should have to face. #Afghanistan should not be forgotten.

Grateful for a productive exchange in Kabul with @EUinAfghanistan. The EU 🇪🇺 remains a key partner in supporting our efforts to address urgent needs of vulnerable Afghans, especially returnees, and to promote reintegration, social cohesion, and long-term solutions.

Today at the Islam Qala border with Iran, I saw a nonstop flow of Afghan returnees. Our reception and transit centres are overflowing. Many of the returnees, especially women and girls, need urgent support. The scale is alarming and #Afghanistan cannot face this alone.

Pleased to be in #Afghanistan with @iori_IOM to support our emergency response for Afghan returnees and engage with partners on the ground to discuss ongoing cooperation. Returns from Iran are at a record high, but resources are falling short.
