For all the talk about Shatner having to be “reined in” by directors, it’s pretty impressive how measured he is in #StarTrekV (which he directed). In fact, he gives his cast much more opportunities to “go big.” I’m endlessly fascinated by this underrated adventure.

Still an absolute barnstormer, just a radical fucking film. Look closely and you’ll notice an awkward jump cut, cables on stunt men, tons of ADR, continuity errors, etc, all signs that human beings made this fucking banger, and these human touches only make me love it more. 1/2
