The Arizona Insect Festival joins our community in mourning the tragic loss of our colleague Dr. Tom Meixner. In keeping with his dedication to the Tucson community, the Arizona Insect Festival will continue as planned on Sunday October 9 from 10am to 3pm in the ENR2 building.

At the Insects as Food booth you will discover edible insects! Insect proteins are as nutritious as other animal-based proteins but their production is less environmentally taxing. Insect thrive on non-cultivated food, which reduces the environmental impact of food production.

Transgenic Bt cotton is safe for people, wildlife, and even beneficial insects. Find out how UA entomologists used transgenic Bt cotton to eradicate the invasive pink bollworm a century after it invaded Arizona, while some pests elsewhere have evolved resistance to Bt crops.
