These bills put in place plans, equipment & training Michigan schools need to save lives during an emergencies.

When a student or student-athlete experiences a cardiac emergency, what happens to save their life? I'm proud to work with Rep. Tyrone Carter on HBs 5527 and 5528 which ensure an AED would be accessible in all schools and require a plan on how to respond to a cardiac emergency.

State lawmakers introduce legislation requiring AEDs in all Michigan schools

20% of our population is in schools every day. Emergency response plans, working AEDs and education save lives, it’s not only about our students, but staff, volunteers and more.

In an emergency every second counts. Rep. Tyrone Carter & Rep. @JohnforMI have intro'd bills to make MI's schools safer by creating a cardiac emergency response plans & making medical equipment more accessible. 💟 💟 💟

❣️Application of AED was low in pediatric OHCA and even lower in young kids ❣️there are still large gaps in equality and access to training ❣️shared decision making in patients at increased risk is important and is the true art of medicine #AHA2023

❣️Secondary prevention and preparedness is necessary ❣️You don’t need a huge team to save a life ❣️continued advocacy and legislation with Access to AEDs Act

❣️SCA in the young is different from adults. ❣️Continued need for post-Morten investigation. ❣️We may be overestimating the amount we think we can get from gene testing ❣️ diabetes &obesity impact even the young with increased in SCA in these groups #AHA2023
