To the Faulkner players, I am truly sorry your season and or career had to end like this. It really is an unfortunate situation for all of you guys. You truly gave it your all this year and should be proud of your efforts and achievements.

To anyone faulting the player in question, give the kid a break. He is just another kid chasing his dream of playing baseball and had no idea he wasn’t supposed to be playing this year. Kid was having a great season and is likely feeling bad for ending his teams season.

This issue could have been prevented ok Faulkner’s end, but given their recent history of ineligible players, it would appear they had some basis for believing the player was given another year. It likely wasn’t an issue of simply overlooking it again.

Faulkner should have been informed of this immediately after the player played the first game of the season. All players fill out paperwork each offseason. I do not understand how it wasn’t caught then that they had an ineligible player on their roster.

The NAIA needs to have a better system in check to ensure ineligible players are not playing to begin with. This isn’t like Faulkner picked up a random player and played him under someone else’s name. The player was in NAIA’s database and even on the leaderboards for some stats.

Faulkner self reported the issue near the end of the season. This suggests someone else likely pointed it out or warned them that they would report if Faulkner didn’t self report. Either way they did the right thing knowing their season could be in jeopardy.

Should @NAIA and @SSACsports let @FaulknerBSBL in as the last seed and give them a chance to earn their way in? I understand setting the precedent for future teams, but you hate to see player’s careers end off the field when they are 33-12 on the field. 🧵.

Neither option is wrong. You may be stuck behind future draft picks at your D1 and get to play with some of the best talent in the county. On the other hand you likely choosing your school based on baseball and if you don’t get on the field can you handle it.
