VR gathers huge amounts of data, and as a society we need to talk about that. Could your movement data pre-diagnose a degenerative disease? Could that affect your health insurance? Silicon Valley will need to look to medical data protections for models. https://t.co/VcZwiV562R

A 20-minute virtual reality game can capture 20 million data points about the player - and yet the collection and use of this information is still unregulated.

Loving @vihartvihart's Space of All Possible Toasts. This sounds funny (and it is), but academically it's also fundamental for understanding many disciplines (multi-dimensionality & AI), plus an early exploration into an AI financial model to benefit all.

"now with AR and VR, now with computers, we can absolutely create spatial representations that respond dynamically and computationally to our pokes & stretches in real time, more like our lunchtime imaginings & less like blackboard proofs." @vihartvihart

One potential use for brain-machine interfaces is to power augmented reality headsets, spending and receiving messages and getting information privately. Empowering those who can't easily communicate in other ways is the most inspiring application though.
Using brain-machine interfaces to help people type with their minds, technology to empower the disabled and possibly one day allow people to non-invasively communicate with machines without voice, hands, or muscle movement.

There is huge potential for immersive education. It can combine great teachers reaching students live anywhere, autonomous avatars personalizing lessons for students, and personalized education to match individual student needs. Imagination and embodiment.
