When jobs were slashed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was also a small reprieve in workplace deaths—11% fewer workers died on the job in 2020 compared to 2019. But that didn't last. 💥More workers died as jobs rebounded .💥Racial disparities in workplace deaths widened.
The U.S. overall workplace death rate has remained relatively constant over the past decade. But Black, Latino and teen workers all see recent increases in workplace death rates, according to @BLS_gov data.

The study's South Central region had the most noteworthy increases. The region includes 5 treatment plants located in Blue Earth, LeSueur, McLeod, and Nicollet counties, and a population of 69,115 connected by sewer lines.

While we had the sixth lowest unadjusted COVID-19 death rate, once adjusted for age and the presence of key comorbidities, Minnesota’s death rate shifts to exactly the middle of the pack.
