💬 CZ’s pardon might look like a win for crypto - but it also shows how political the game has become. After reports that Binance backed Trump’s World Liberty Financial through a $2B USD1 deal, the timing feels... strategic. Check the wallet transfering $2B worth of USD1,

9/10 Both raise the same question: where is the line between financial safety and censorship risk? Tether’s speed protects victims but centralizes power. But it backfired - Riverstone Consultancy Inc. a firm based in Houston, Texas, has sued Tether for illegally freezing $44m of

8/10 Key differences 🟡 Tether — proactive & fast, often freezing before court orders, working with LE & intel firms. 🔵 Circle — reactive, acts mainly on judicial or OFAC orders. Result: 10× more $USDT than $USDC frozen (2023–2025).

7/10 However, Tether does not just freeze — it uses burn + redeem events to refund verified victims. So far, Circle offers no such option. Once $USDC is frozen, it stays that way or gets unfrozen.

6/10 Tether confirmed the freeze, calling the assets “connected to fraudulent and transnational criminal operations.” That same month: $130 M USDT frozen - the busiest on record. Triggered by joint operations in Cambodia, Laos & Thailand.

5/10 Case: Huione Group (Cambodia) In July 2024, Tether froze $29.6 M USDT on TRON linked to Huione Group — a network behind pig-butchering scams, money laundering & human-trafficking payments. Huione wallets moved over $11 B in crypto, mostly USDT

3/10 🟡 Tether ($USDT) actively manages its blacklist: 1️⃣ Permanent freeze 2️⃣ Unblacklist if cleared 3️⃣ Burn & reissue → destroy stolen tokens and mint new ones for victims 🔵 Circle ($USDC): usually just freezes — months later, after a court order. No unblacklist, no refund

2/10 Between 2023–2025, stablecoin issuers quietly froze billions in stolen funds. 💥 $3.29 B USDT banned 💥 $109 M USDC banned 📍 USDT 7 268 addresses 📍 USDC 372 addresses But what happens after the freeze shows how different Tether vs Circle really are

🧵❓If a hacker stole your funds -  could you actually get a refund in $USDT or $USDC? Answer- depends on the stablecoin! Tether has a “burn and reissue” function that lets it destroy stolen USDT and mint it back to rightful owners. Victims in $USDC? They can only hope for a

Everyone’s focused on the $15B BTC — but the real story is structural. 🏦💸DOJ basically mapped a shadow central bank. Prince Group’s wallets mirrored interbank accounts: mining ops = liquidity washers, Huione OTC = rails, Prince Bank = off-ramp. A full criminal economy, not

The 127,271 BTC ($14B) they are seeking to forfeit are actually from the LuBian mining operation that was ran by the defendant and were actually stolen back in 2020. Have been sat idle ever since. Probably quite unlikely they get them, unless some sort of fake hack.

@peckshield 5/5 Bottom line: Messaging hackers rarely works. But when it does - it matters. If just 5% of victims recover assets, that’s millions saved. And every message is a breadcrumb for OSINT and forensics. Forever public. Forever traceable. 👁 At AMLBot, we read them all. — End 🧵
