Just a reminder: Emergency responders have control of the cameras and they are making the decisions regarding where it is best to point them. We don't override them as a general rule. Calling us names isn't going to change that fact. 1/2
We haven't been super active on Twitter lately but that's bc we've been busy adding new cameras. In the last 7 days, we've added: 4 in El Dorado, 4 in Fresno, 4 in Glenn, 8 in Kern, 2 in Mendocino, 2 in Merced, 2 in Monterey, and 3 in San Luis Obispo Counties. Many more ahead!
It's condorpalooza on the ALERTCalifornia network! Many of these endangered birds have been spotted roosting together in view of our cameras. Please tag

If you have an urgent need to have the position changed, and it's a camera that isn't being currently utilized, we're happy to re-position it, but have some patience with us. There's 2 of us monitoring twitter but the state is on fire, and we both have other responsibilities. 2/2
How many ALERTCalifornia cameras are in the network? Heading into summer we have 1,028 cameras monitoring the state. Our field installation team, along with partner teams, will continue to work hard this summer to instal even more. Explore them all at

Update on Hamilton Mtn cameras: the fire didn't destroy the tower after all and we are coordinating with CALFIRE to send a crew to the site to assess damage.
New camera alert: Walnut Grove cameras 1 & 2 were just added to the network. They will be used to monitor water levels in the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta region during weather events like atmospheric rivers and rapid snowmelt. Watch live
California cameras are up on our temporary public interface. This is an interim site. We will have our official site with enhanced functionality up in the next week. Thank you for your patience.

Things do not bode well for our intrepid hero, the
#RainbowLake
camera. We're bracing for a possible burn-over event tonight. It's hard to tell at night but we estimate
#ZoggFire
to be roughly 500 meters away from the camera at the moment.
It looks like the
#RainbowLake
camera and tower survived the night. The
#ZoggFire
burned right to the road at the base of the hill in a few places-- mostly where there was just brush. It got within 60 meters of the tower. We ran some operational tests this morning but all is ✅.
We put together this video this morning of the

fire last summer.
Would anyone like some good news? We have a firmware upgrade coming in about a week that will fix the night-focus issue we're seeing on certain cameras. 🥳🎉
"Make sure you get my good side!" We recently spotted this female American kestrel from the Gorman 2 camera, located on the southwestern edge of the Tehachapi Mountains. American kestrels are the smallest members of the falcon family found in North America.
You may see some changes with the cameras on the website. Thank you for your patience, they will be viewable to the public soon. All cameras are still functional and available for first responders to use for monitoring and safety. More information to come.
You may notice some temporary blurriness on some of the cameras. That's because very strong winds are currently vibrating cameras and towers at sites in northern and southern California. Occasionally frame capture occurs while the camera is shaking, resulting in a blurred image.
Did you know that during the cold months some cameras go into “winter mode” to save power? Winter-mode cameras are not recording, but they are running internal heaters to keep the electronics from freezing. Many of these cameras are "waking up" now that the weather is warming.
New camera alert! High Point North and South cameras were just added to the ALERTCalifornia network. Located at 1870 meters elevation, these cameras provide unparalleled views from Palomar Mountain in San Diego County. Watch live at
