D’Angelo has died at 51! Three remarkable albums, a truly seminal artist, without him we don’t have modern R&B. 51 is far, far too young,

Magical, ethereal rosé from of Spain’s most exciting young producers. Incredible stuff

Got lots of new followers based on my Spanish escapades. Little do they know this account is pretty much photos of food and my dog. Sorry in advance

Another @British_Airways flight departing over an hour late. If I was as bad as you are at what I do, I’d give up and start a new career. Useless!

A Coruña is a fine, fine, elegant city. Immaculately clean, wonderful bars and restaurants, and a thriving wine scene. Brilliant front promenade and parks, plus beautiful beaches scattered about its coast. It’s comfortably gone into my top five Spanish cities. I adore it.

How wonderful is it when a bar allows you to purchase a lovely bottle of wine and come back for it over two/three nights? As I said, I don’t drink a lot anymore but I love being able to enjoy really good wine at my leisure. Thank you, Jaleo!

This is the Torre de Hercules, A Coruña. Built in ~100AD and has been in use ever since. It is the world’s oldest lighthouse still in use today. That is quite incredible. Must be using those new LED bulbs.

Ourense is a charming, thriving, little city. A great bar and restaurant scene. The food is more rustic than Vigo. The thermal springs a delight. I love little cities like this; you’d live your whole life not knowing they exist yet they are bustling, happy, little places.

Tonight I went for a sunset plodge in the natural thermal springs, here in Ourense. Free to use. Immaculately clean, safe, and respectfully used. I left feel happy and invigorated (thanks to a couple of dips in the free-flowing Miño river as well).

Honourable mentions for Kehoe’s in Dublin and The Crown Posada in Newcastle. Both unlucky to miss out. Could probably do a top 10, to be honest. Stay tuned

Makes me think about the best bars I’ve been to. Straight off the bat my top five, in no particular order. Kay’s Bar, Edinburgh Bar Fuentefria, Ourense The Lauriston, Glasgow La Venencia, Madrid PJ Clarkes, 63rd and 3rd NYC All masters of the what they do.

I genuinely now place this little bar in my top five global. Bar Fuentefria in Ourense. It is perfect. Its offering is perfect for what and where it is. An exceptional example of ‘less is more’. I hope it thrives forever.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say again. The energy of a Spanish city pre-dinner is unrivalled; everyone out for their preprandial walk and drink, the sun setting, the temperature falling, the bars a throng . It’s a gorgeous, unique energy that I wish could be bottled.

Look no further. I have found the best tomatoes the world (the sign describes me to a tee, also)

Vigo is a fine, fine city; a handsome main boulevard, gritty port, and a charming old town. Good seafood rightfully dominates menus, but there is more. The free tapas with drinks verge on main course in size. A charming place

While I’m on my holidays, Magnus is also on his. Here he is with our family dog, Milly. I think she’s about 17 now. Great old girl.
