The far right wants us to feel powerless. Extremists are counting on apathy, cynicism, & heartbreak to be their rocket fuel. They are counting on us to point fingers at each other & lose trust in our ability to make change. I absolutely refuse to give them the satisfaction.

🏳️‍⚧️ It's #TransAwarenessWeek! This week we celebrate and uplift the trans community while also calling attention to the issues that most directly impact trans folks such as anti-trans legislation, violence against community members, discrimination, and economic disparities.

Every queer person, every trans person, everyone excluded and harmed for being different: you’re fucking superheroes. You’re beautiful. You’re bright lights and the shitty people of the world are scared of you because next to you, they’re nothing. Burn bright, angels.

We're heartbroken by the election results. We know what challenges we face ahead in our fight for full LGBTQ+ equality. Make no mistake: you are not alone. Our ancestors taught us that resilience is our superpower. You are loved, and you have an entire community with you.

Again, fascism’s power is fear. Dark times are coming but when they want you to be afraid, when they want to rob you of your joy, you must refuse to give them that.

If things get worse, that’s when we’ll need you the most. I want us to live free and without fear but if tonight turns for the worst it’s up to us to keep fighting in spite of the fear. Your love, your joy, your spirit, are more crucial than ever.

If you believe in equal rights, distributive justice, reproductive freedom, queer liberation, and most of all basic kindness and decency, remember: We’re all scared right now, but the worse things get, the more we need you to keep hope, be true, and stand. Carry the fire.
