Happy, Safe & Free - Journey Manchester Children’s Art Project Our Happy, Safe and Free artwork has all be shredded so that it can be made into the ‘water’ for our paper boats to sail on. We made our paper boats today. We have enjoyed being part of the project.

Year 4 have been practising yoga poses this afternoon. We have learned six poses: dolphin, moon, mountain, rainbow, boat and bird. Some were very challenging, especially the moon and the bird.

Year 4 are looking at the elements of Art. We are learning about primary and secondary colours and how to mix them into shades using black and white. The children are creating warm and cold sun and moon pictures in their Art journals.

Year 4 have been using the stopwatches in PE to see how many times they can perform the stork. Then they recorded their results on their fitness record.

Year 4 have been investigating gases by seeing which fizzy drink has the most carbon dioxide. Our arms are aching from shaking! We have tested: sparkling water, Diet Coke, Coca Cola, Sprite, Fanta, Lucozade and Irn Bru. We have all made predictions. Results to follow...

Year 4 children have been making stained glass windows using tissue paper and laminating pouches. We used black permanent markers to represent the lead. We watched a video about how real stained glass is made.

Year 4 have been finding out about stained glass and how it is made. It started as an art form approximately one thousand years ago. We have been replicating sections of this stained glass window from our class Advent calendar.

Year 4 are practising their drawing skills. Some of the textures were quite detailed and required deep concentration. We have had an extremely quiet hour. ☺️

Year 4 are learning about Ancient Egypt. We have used our digital art skills to create these pictures depicting pyramids silhouetted against sunsets. We used https://t.co/oEMz1OdX5X and are becoming quite skilled using artistic effects and backgrounds.

Year 4 had a great time at the Multi Sports festival at Flixton Girls’ School. They took part in four activities: athletics, handball, cricket, tag rugby. All the children had fun and used up lots of energy. Handball was most children’s favourite activity.

Year 4 have been working on Problem Solving Challenges. They enjoyed finding out how many two and three-eyed monsters would have a total of 28 eyes. Some children found more than one solution.

In Year 4 we had 10 minutes to compete 12 cultural statements. We had to move around the room and ask people about themselves. We weren’t allowed to write a person’s name more than once. Some of the children completed all twelve statements.
