Sacrifices Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the ones you love and that’s exactly what I’m doing, making those sacrifices to help my mom. When I got the call that she was taken to the hospital and she needed her family, I hope on the first flight from Georgia to Italy.

So I drag myself to the bedroom with suitcase in tow, plopping it on the bed and pulling out some pajamas. Taking a hot shower I pull on my clothes brush my hair and flop on the bed, hoping that sleep will claim me.

When I get to my moms I go inside and put my purse on the counter where there are bills upon bills, unpaid, past due. Tossing them back on the counter, a problem that I can deal with tomorrow.

Improves. After speaking with the Dr and nurse for a few more minutes, I’m allowed to go see her. I spend the next few hours with her before the jet lag starts to hit. Leaving the hospital I head to my mom’s house to get a shower and some sleep.

When I got to the hospital, the nurse and dr pull me into a private room to tell me my mom had a massive heart attack and her heart is not strong enough to go through with the surgery. That they were going to keep her in the hospital for a few days to see if her condition

My mom moved back to Italy two years ago to help my grandmother who was ill. My grandmother passed soon after but my mom stayed to run the business my grandmother built a tiny Salumeria. It’s been in our family for as long as I can remember.
