Trying to scratch a living out of the dirt in North Notts.
North Nottinghamshire, UK
Joined December 2012
Being a dirty stockman at heart I had the back window open so heard the puncture and air leaking out. But it was also detected by the cheap wireless tyre pressure monitor system we fitted that I’ve been quite impressed by. Could prevent an inconvenience turning into big problems.

Last load of maize tipped and I get a flat tyre on the road home. Got lucky with a lay-by but luck ran out when tyre dropped off the bead. Torque multipliers are bloody marvellous things!

Just bought a couple of aerosol cans of Massey Ferguson Super Red paint. Then for some reason I found I had to add that it actually was for painting a tractor and not for the pair of mini roundabouts outside the dealers yard…

Yeah, it’s a big trailer but I don’t think you’re meant to be able to fit a whole 5 point something hectare field of 1st crop winter wheat in it with room to spare…

With seemingly everyone finishing their harvest I suppose it’s time we started ours…

We often get an increase in fly tipping after Xmas with unwanted toys and presents. I guess there’s no 2nd hand market for this stuff…?

Looking at the show of force a few local farmers can put together just to celebrate Xmas, it makes me wonder what the whole industry could do if we were actually angry about something, you know, like if the government had upset us or something….

Some new metal for the @vaderstad Topdown. Think we’ve had our money’s worth out of the original set of discs…

Stung by the weather yet again…. Frost has done a number on some of our maize. This was late drilled but was just beginning to catch up nicely but doubt the cobs are gonna amount to very much now. Bit of a low spot acting as a frost pocket. What a year…

My face after redrilling the failed sugerbeet that capped after 30mm of rain looking at the next storm as it drops 30mm of rain

Has something bad happened to all the Lapwings? I’m normally dodging round dozens of nests in our fields by now, but I’ve haven’t even seen one single lapwing this spring…

Just delivering some grain and a roadside poster caught my eye. The line between reality and fantasy being blurred away by real advertising. #LAMMA

Blimey, wasn’t expecting my tiny village to get a mention on the national news but there it is getting mentioned alongside all the big global events.

We’ve got deeper flooding than 2007, but at least it’s on mostly empty fields and not fully grown crops of wheat like it was back then. Glad we’ve not planted anything yet…
