Truth. But, it is an odd position to occupy. Working *on* and *in* neurotech often feel incompatible. Something about Quine, holism, and the difficultly of changing single sentences within a science without accepting large parts of the whole theory, including choice of language.

This! Patient advocates (and participants) are experts. I would add that engagement with them is crucial from and ethical and regulatory perspective. Very honored to moderate a symposium on this at the upcoming BRAIN investigators meeting. @NeurotechNetwk @USBrainAlliance

Tldr: the ethical ideal of patient-centered communication should be animated by an openness to diverse modes of communication and a commitment to promoting the conditions that enable participation in healthcare communication for all patients. We are not currently doing this well.

Ma’am, This is what a doctor looks like, acts like, & shines like✨ #professionalismšŸ˜Ž Soon enough, we will hv that honest conversation about how ā€œprofessionalismā€ is weaponized as a tool of white supremacist patriarchal capitalist ableist culture to oppress, exclude, & harm.
