Year 1 had an amazing time at their African drumming workshop! The children enjoyed playing different styles of drums and learning about another culture 🪘 They also learnt why we celebrate Diwali and created their own colourful rangoli patterns!🪔 #avantiway #Diwali

Chestnut Class visited the ISKON Temple this week. We learnt all about the power of sound, and wrote letters to Krishna, expressing our love and gratitude towards him ✨! We also did the Aarti and connected with each other spiritually! What a lovely experience to be a part of!❤️

Year 3 engaged in a wonderful African drumming workshop with Nick this week! They learnt about different types of drums and how they create various different sounds! They also enjoyed shouting ‘Waka Waka, Hey Hey’ and ‘Zugala Zugala’ in a call and response activity! 🥁

Children in Year 3 have been busy making posters about the Stone Age today! We are developing a deeper understand of the Stone Age, Bronze Age and Iron Age! Can you find any books about these topics? 🪨

Year 1 had an amazing time at their Aboriginal art workshop! They used vibrant colours and templates of Australian animals. They experimented with dot painting, bold lines, repeating shapes and intricate patterns. Such a fun and inspiring way to explore art and culture!🎨#avanti

In Reception, we’ve been diving into Owl Babies! The children have loved the story and have been doing some fantastic writing inspired by it. We thought about what baby owl Bill said and practised sounding out with our Fred fingers and did some wonderful writing!

This week in Year 3, Chestnut and Cedar class have been learning about music and the meanings of different notes 🎶. They were able to clap beats back and learn a new song too! 🎵 They can’t wait until they start learning how to play the clarinet or flute! 🪈

This week, Year 1 have been busy exploring the continents and oceans in Geography! They sang catchy songs to help remember them, played fun memory games, and confidently located and labelled each one on a world map. A fantastic start to becoming global explorers! 🗺️ #avantiway
