Both enclosures were finished in C4M paint due to the site’s location, before they were dispatched to our client for installation of the generator, switchgear, and transformer, after which they delivered and installed the completed packaged #ModularSubstation at the prison.

ADE also designed and manufactured a 13,000 litre free-standing bespoke bulk #FuelTank to support extended run times for the generator.

The 2nd enclosure was a #ModularEnclosure to house #switchgear and a transformer. Designed for 120-minute #FireIntegrity, it consisted of a fully bunded HV/transformer room and an MV room, and featured vents, fans, louvres, cable entry points, and security bars.

The 1st enclosure was a fully bunded 65 dB(A) at 1m #AcousticEnclosure designed to house an 800 kVA #generator, complete with a 1,500 litre internal day tank, motorised and gravity dampers, bird mesh, weather louvres, and a bund alarm.

Critical Generation & Distribution Enclosures ADE were contracted by a regular client - a major UK #PowerGeneration solution provider - to design and manufacture 2 bolt-together #BespokeEnclosures to form a modular substation to provide emergency standby #power for a UK #prison.

Following #mechanical installation, ADE engineers also installed all the interconnecting cabling between the enclosed equipment. The completed installation now provides secure, reliable housing for the vital power control #infrastructure at the facility.

On site, the #enclosures were positioned and installed by ADE engineers, with the LV, MV and VSD modules combined to form a single multi-module structure atop an ADE designed and manufactured 1.4 metre-high galvanised substructure, complete with access platforms and stairs.

Simultaneously, ADE fitted out the lids with lighting, small #power, earthing, HVAC and other required auxiliary equipment. The equipped skids were then returned to ADE for final test fitting and quality checks prior to dispatch.

For the LV, MV and termination chamber modules, the “skids” (bases) and the “lids” (wall and roof assemblies) were fabricated and C5M-painted separately. Once complete, the skids were delivered to the client for installation of their #switchgear, and other equipment.

The scope consisted of LV, MV, and VSD modules, and a termination chamber. To accelerate programme delivery, the VSD module was manufactured and fitted out in a traditional method, while the remaining 3 modules were delivered utilising a “skid and lid” approach.

The completed #switchroom now supports the replacement of transformers at two key substations within the port and underpins the operation of a commercial #EV charging hub.

To aid in withstanding the coastal environment, ADE applied a durable C5M paint finish for long-term corrosion protection. Schneider’s engineers then installed their panels and completed factory acceptance testing at our premises before the unit was dispatched to site.

The enclosure was designed to be fire rated for 60-minutes, and fitted with lighting and small #power, earthing, ventilation, dehumidification, and intruder and fire detection. Base cable entry and a built-in pressure relief vent were also incorporated for convenience and safety.
