EVICTION RESISTED 💪 This morning the community came together to keep our member Evie in her home! After mistreatment by the landlord, they were trying to force her out onto the street. Well not on our watch – Not today, not ever!

For five months, residents have lived with rats, broken water, and dead intercoms. Spencer Properties has done nothing. Last month we took our demands straight to their office. They gave us excuses, so we shut them down for the day. We’ll keep fighting for our members!

After years of campaigning, we secured an expansion of the Landlord Licensing Scheme across more parts of Leeds. But that’s not enough, we need a citywide scheme, with clear enforcement, to protect renters. We won’t stand by while politicians profit from the housing crisis.

NO LANDLORDS IN POLITICS After backing the Landlord Licensing scheme, Chancellor @rachelreevesmp has been exposed for failing to secure a license for her own Leeds rental property.

The new scheme will hold landlords to higher standards, ensuring homes are kept in a decent state of repair. But we believe this should be the standard for ALL housing in Leeds.

Following our Ban Slum Landlords campaign and months of organising renters earlier in 2025 to take part in the consultation, Leeds City Council has finally taken action to expand Landlord Licensing across new areas of the city!

After months of being ignored, we took our demands straight to Leeds Civic Hall. We secured a meeting with Cllr Asghar Khan to hold him to account on the council use of bailiffs. Direct action works.

Then we marched to Leeds City Hall and occupied the lobby. After months of being ignored, Cllr Asghar Khan finally agreed to meet us. We’ll be holding Leeds City Council to account for their shameful use of bailiffs. This is just the start.

We kicked things off by shutting down the Civil Court Users Association conference – packed with some of Britain’s biggest bailiff firms. They didn’t stick around long! Instead, we held our own people’s conference to share stories and demand change.

Turns out bailiffs don't like it where they're the ones being kicked out! Backed by 300 members from across the county, we took over a bailiff conference and made it the Baliff Free Britian Conference. More info below:
