Miriam joined ACME to collaborate with peers passionate about vector biology and to expand her impact in the field. 👉🏼 Fun Fact: When it's not the mosquito world, all Miriam think of is a hot cup of chai, a slow read, and writing her thoughts.

Miriam’s diverse research experiences have equipped her to contribute meaningfully to national and international efforts in vector control. Her long-term goal is to apply her expertise in advisory, technical, and policy roles supporting global health.

Now a PhD student at the University of Florida, Dr. Bianca Burini's lab, Miriam focuses on developing transgenic tools for post-translational control of protein expression in Aedes aegypti, contributing to cutting-edge genetic strategies for mosquito population suppression.

She later joined the Integrated Molecular Entomology Core Lab at Kansas State University, working with Dr. Kris Silver to examine mosquito and midge feeding behavior using electropenetrography (EPG) techniques.

This experience shaped her master’s research at Virginia Tech under the mentorship of Dr. Roger Schürch, where she explored the environmental effects of ivermectin on larval insect abundance and dung degradation.
