Residents of Bula Hawa town in Jubaland, Somalia, are fleeing to the nearby town of Dolo following intense fighting between Somali Special Forces and the Jubaland administration. The situation has remained tense over the past two weeks.

Also present was the consortium lead agency, a key partner in the initiative, which brings together civil society actors, government agencies, and educational institutions to promote peacebuilding, counter-radicalization, and youth empowerment.

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Garissa University reiterated the institution's commitment to fostering a safe, inclusive environment for learning through strategic partnerships.

The event was chaired by the Deputy County Commissioner, who emphasized the importance of community engagement in ensuring long-term security, especially in regions like Garissa that have faced past security challenges.

African Child Development Organization, in collaboration with local stakeholders, successfully conducted a community policing launch at Garissa University aimed at enhancing safety, trust, and cooperation between security agencies and the university community.

ACDO has conducted community members public baraza in iftin ward. The public baraza was aimed at bringing law enforcement agencies closer to the community and building trust to enhance information sharing and collaboration in ensuring peace, safety, and security in Garissa County

ACDO has visited Iftin primary school together with 2 security actors and 2 community actors. The school visit was aimed at sensitising the students on drug abuse, human smuggling and radicalization among other security issues. The school administration were in attendance.
