"The term “underrepresented minority” is widely used... However, I prefer the term “systematically marginalized groups” (SMGs) because the underrepresentation of certain people in certain places is not coincidental; it is intentional." __ says @Chem_Diva

@ABautistaChavez When you look at the facts, class blind, colour blind hiring a wealthy white racist Italian as Associate for “Equity & Justice” by replacing a Black woman as done by #CRT scholar and Dean @aonwuachi @bu_law , makes complete sense…

@ABautistaChavez It will be great to have a secondary axis with publications associated to decolonism or Global South issues.

@ABautistaChavez Tbf.. not very surprising considering US population is over 70%+ white.. a secondary axis (although crowded) factoring in general population by race (or more accurate; applicants to those jobs by race) would give more context .. [Julie would be so proud of me☺️]

@ABautistaChavez It's good to visualize your data but you also need some more statistical background info. Like how many ppl attend uni regarding "race"/gender (sry but race is just an awful term, there are no such things as race) + the statistics about the distribution of US population

@ABautistaChavez This is pretty damning but I feel like without data on application rates and also qualified applicants it's lacking. But I agree there's a blatantly obvious bias in the system.

@ABautistaChavez It is amazing how the anti-affirmative action lawsuits never bring up this type of data. Those numbers did not occur by chance.

@ABautistaChavez Beyond the message that is urgent to address in academia, I am just wondering why numbers do not add up to 100% for each gender?

@ABautistaChavez Based on the source of the data, can you extrapolate the numbers for those faculty hired only within the last ten years?

@ABautistaChavez the fact that Native folks aren’t even on the graph is telling (in the most awful, violent, erasing kind of way).

@ABautistaChavez The Mexican origin population should have its own bar since we are 60% of the Latino population.
