#ResearchWednesday The study in JEBO by O’Connor, @MatthewRousu, and others examines the impact of winning an experimental auction on e-cigarette use. The results showed that winners were more likely to use e-cigarettes than non-winners. More here:

Other recent research conducted by Dr. Rousu has used experimental auctions to examine consumer demand and to think about public policy implications in areas of tobacco control, social media preferences, and vaccine incentives.

Dr. Rousu also regularly posts YouTube videos designed to make economics accessible. Here is a recent video examining the economics of Taylor Swift’s ticket pricing

Much of Dr. Rousu’s recent research has focused on how to use innovative methods to reach students, whether through songs, movies, or TV clips or through pedagogical methods that help students succeed and increase graduation rates.
