‼️ Exciting news! @oxfordarchaeology has 2 archaeology apprenticeships starting Mon, 13th Oct 2025 at A66 & Lancaster. Gain hands-on experience on a major excavation! Apply now: closing date 14th Sept 2025.

Archaeology work starts Tuesday, 2 September, in Kirkby Thore. 🚜🔍 Excavation in fields nearby with no road impact. After that we will start, utility work moving electricity, BT, water, and gas, getting ready for the main project. 👷

We've been carrying out wildlife surveys, including badger 🦡 and bat 🦇 assessments. These are crucial for conservation and sustainable development of the project. Check out our video featuring a kingfisher 🐦 and otters!

In the past year, we’ve worked with men from HMP Holme House & HMP Deerbolt on the A66 project. They enjoyed interactive sessions and we're hopeful in helping them with their future. Great to see positive impacts!.

The students learned how different jobs – from planning and costing to building and evaluating – come together on big projects like the A66. It’s all about inspiring the next generation of civil engineers. 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

Over the last few months, we’ve teamed up with Kirkby Thore School to help pupils design their perfect village. From roads and signs to sports facilities, hot tubs and even a man cave – their creativity blew us away! 👏

This project is just one part of the 397 volunteer hours we’ve already delivered this year, aiming for £10m in social value. We’re proud to give back to local communities.

We’re busy preparing for the future of the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine upgrade. Carrying out essential enabling works along the route, including diverting utilities such as gas and electricity, so the project can get off to the best possible start when main construction begins.
