A very nice article written about my fun journey so far.
“I rode as well as I could, but I was well outside the medals, unfortunately. It wasn’t a course that was perfect for me, but I gave it my all.” #shpk @CyclingCanada @TeamCanada @realshanejones

Sorry folks but I couldn’t muster the courage for this race, at the first big downhill I stopped.

Tried as hard as I could, but it wasn’t enough. At least I has a great cheering section back in Canada 🙂

I’m off at 8:43 am tomorrow for my road ITT - that should be about 5:43 pm in Edmonton. I think @CBCOlympics has coverage but check their schedule to confirm. It’ll be great to do my first race in 2 years

I’ve decided to withdraw from the track events @Tokyo2020 and not start in the Individual Pursuit. This will allow me additional time to prepare for my the Road Individual Time Trial on August 31. @TristenChernove, reclassified as C1, will race and produce excellent results!

An athlete representative, Andrew L'Espérance, sits on the board of directors, says President Pierre Laflamme. We agreed to have another athlete sit with us to see how we run the federation. But he doesn't have the right to vote right now until our constitution is changed.

The same goes for diversity or for gender equity. CC's board of directors is made up of middle-aged white men. The board of directors has only one member of visible minorities and the presence of two women.

If you train me, it would be good if you did some para-cycling, says Ross Wilson. Even at the administrative level, no employee comes from the disabled community. How can they understand our concerns? We are not represented.

We are not represented What also irritates Ross Wilson is that no disabled person is part of the governance structure of CC and no coach comes from the background of Paralympic sport.

They hired an ombudsman, he says. He met people who are part of CC and myself. He wrote a comprehensive report that he sent to me and to CC. And it stopped there. I had to email CC to ask what they were going to do with this report.

Ross Wilson had also filed a complaint against Cycling Canada for reasons other than the whistleblower in 2019. And the case did not settle as he hoped.

Cycling Canada hopes revised measures will be established in time for next year's deal. The challenge is that there is no case law I can find on this that has been the subject of arbitration , says Kris Westwood.

So if an athlete is going to the Paralympics or the Olympics, there are strict rules for behavior in media and social media. Is it appropriate? We have consulted on this to find out what the appropriate limits would be. This process of reflection continues.

The majority of sports organizations in Canada have restrictive measures on what athletes can say or do in the media, including the Canadian Paralympic Committee and the Canadian Olympic Committee, argues Westwood.

Kris Westwood, high performance director at CC, says he is being kept silent about the details of this mediation so as not to interfere with this procedure because it is still ongoing. But he claims that such a clause is widespread in the Canadian sports world.

The two parties are in mediation to try to reach an agreement, but Wilson now wants to stop these proceedings which are dragging too far for his liking.

Some young athletes who do not sign this agreement would be deprived of funding, explains the accountant. For many this is their main income. I am fortunate to have a career. Paracycling is my hobby. But they are not in a position to express their point of view.

I object to certain clauses included therein, in particular the one which prevents athletes from publicly commenting and criticizing the methods of the federation.
