August 8, 1760: Kouategeté, an Oswegatchie warrior sachem formerly allied with the French, reaches Ft. Lévis with Oneida and Mohawk diplomats who urge that their Catholic #Iroquois kin stay neutral in the impending battle. He was released from Oswego by the British days before.

August 7, 1760: The British army departs from Oswego & heads north toward Ft. Lévis along the east side of Lake Ontario. The vanguard is led by Lt. Col Haldimand. His regulars and rangers work to find safe channels for the sailing ships in the complex island geography. #History
