all jokes aside I think the reason they've criticized hozier for being so back and forth is that they can't wrap their minds around the idea of these albums being a collection of differing viewpoints and stories
hozier barely knows how to tie his own shoe I promise you there is nothing cooking up there. in this photo he's most likely wondering whether or not VS makes lingerie that can fit a 6'6 irishman
I love how people bring hozier gifts and watch in astonishment as he takes his time and processes them as if he were a little monkey in a zoo full of gay spectators
something really powerful about him as an artist is that he writes from different angles that may or may not be his own. the message he is sharing with an audience is not reflected in each individual opinion, but is in the act of arranging them together as he does
at this point it is not accidental that people are only focusing on his angsty folk music.
they are deliberately ignoring that a large amount of his songs are inspired by black american genres and protest music; as well as the political aspects behind all of these songs.
I can tell that one time someone told hozier to pose by placing his thumb in the palm of the other hand bc he went from looking like he was experiencing anaphylaxis to suddenly doing the same exact pose on every red carpet
girls when "do you know I could break beneath the weight of the goodness, love, I still carry for you?
that I'd walk so far just to take the injury of finally knowing you?"
this was just after he took his in-ears out and listened to everyone sing. he also sounded a bit choked up when he thanked us after this 🥺 he is so sweet
I love how people bring hozier gifts and watch in astonishment as he takes his time and processes them as if he were a little monkey in a zoo full of gay spectators
and THIS in itself, this act of compiling stories and giving them respect and context despite them existing outside of his lived experience, is exactly why I told him he's my favorite anthropologist
coming back to this again bc since this man wears the same outfit every day you can still tell it's him when he's drawn face down. a literal cartoon character
he also took some time after this and spoke about the dangers of fear mongering and condemned this wave of anti-trans legislation happening. someone in the crowd yelled "they won't win" and he nodded and repeated it
omg i was there and she's soooooo right. i literally thought i was going to pass out. hozier himself was giving off the worst stench :/ i would suggest selling your tickets if you bought any because that many stinky people in one place should be classified as domestic terrorism
TW: desert landscape, breaking and entering, theft, child abduction, grand theft auto, cigarettes, armed robbery of a gas station, broken down car, hiding from police, getting arrested, hozier

you will never guess what just happened
little known fact about hozier he actually hates performing take me to church. he is solely excited about the presence of pride flags. when people throw them onstage it has the same effect as throwing bread to wild ducks. sends him into a frenzy
Shakespeare or Hozier?

I think music critics and critics of all art can be good! there is really good criticism in the world. but this is just lazy and lacks any true thought past a first listen
DO YOU KNOW I COULD BREAK BENEATH THE WEIGHT OF THE GOODNE SS LOVE I STILL CARRY FOR YOU?????
THAT ID WALK SO FAR JUST TO TAKE THE INJURY OF FINALLY KNOWING YOU??!!!!!!!!
absolutely delights me that he dresses up in such nice fits and then just wears converse. he listened to demi lovato in la la land and went "oh, baby, that's just me!"
had a dream last night i went to a hozier concert and he called a child up to the stage, asked him if he liked coca cola, and when the child said yes, he forced him to drink an entire can of pepsi in one go
everyone pointing out stances he's already taken and the songs he's written but like...... he is someone who lives on land that is STILL being occupied by their colonizer so I just expected a little bit more
not to white knight because the people criticizing the way he approached this are very correct
but I truly feel like the way he worded this was extremely careful (purposefully avoiding buzzwords etc) and therefore may have been restricted by contract of some sort
@PsychopompMike
ooooh I remember in 2020 I lost a lottttt of friends over this take! the fact that people dislike jbj and ncp and ignore his blues/rock influences is very telling in terms of what political standpoints they choose to embrace in his music 👍
thinking about the relationships dynamic between a performer and an audience and how he gets to feel something uniquely special in moments like this I'm sorry I don't think I can be normal rn
