Next step of the 2nd Gen 4runner restomod is to pull out the 3vze, A340H, & VF1A and rebuild. I know I should manual swap, but not until I decide to SAS. While drivetrain is out, finish frame, front suspension, and new brake/fuel lines. And refinish the engine compartment.

New suspension mocked up under ride. Waiting on my tube to fabricate my panhard and my sway bar from Addco. Then will torque everything down and begin the next phase. So far approximately $6,000 in and atleast that again to go. Will be worth every penny.

Rear suspension is installed. Have to fine tune pinion/t-case output angles to ensure parallel. Then time to pull the engine and trans/tcase and start on the front half of the vehicle. New front suspension, steering, frame restoration, brake & fuel lines inbound.

Most of my @ARB4x4 OME suspension parts have arrived for the 4runner. Still waiting on the front and rear shocks. Can’t wait to get this all installed.

Tires mounted on wheels. Rear end isn’t under the 4runner but I stuck the tire in the wheel house to see. Even with 4” suspension and 1” body lift it looks like I may be doing some cutting. Good thing I haven’t started on body work.

Adjustable sway bar stabilizers for the front and rear. Made by Overland Custom Designs. UPS just dropped them off. Too bad sway bars won’t be here until around Christmas.

If you have a new 4runner, removing the air dam is the very first thing you should do.

My new 2025 @Toyota 4Runner Off-Road Premium just arrived at my dealer. Got the 18” all black TRD Wheel upgrade. Have to say I am disappointed they are wrapped in those @MichelinUSA grandma tires. Was really hope for real rubber from @FalkenTire

I am shook right now. Took out the third member to install my USA Standard Gear Spartan Locker and this rig has 4.88’s. Unbelievable. I have literally counted teeth like 6 times now in disbelief.

Rear frame & floor pan has been wire wheeled, flap disked, dremeled, and hand sanded to eliminate all the rust I possibly could. Then wiped thoroughly with prep-sol and sprayed with a rust encapsulator. Then hit it with a coat of primer, scuffed it up, and finished with bed liner

First project is to refurbish the back half. Pulled out the axle housing: junk. Where the brake line connected to the housing it rust straight through. Luckily it didn’t bust through until I hit it with a wire wheel. Used axle housing purchased, sanded & painted to replace.
