1. Provided you read Danish 😅. The publication has received generous support from @Carlsbergfondet. It would not have been possible to write it without @DFF_raad.

Was the Danish language invented by Big Language History to sell more sound change?. That’s very hard to know. But now you can see for yourself¹ in my. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ new book ⭐️⭐️⭐️:. Dansk fra nutiden til stenalderen [Danish from the present to the Stone Age].

Sure, Pre-Indo-European substrates is fun and all, but what about Breton historical phonology? The internet is hungry for hot takes about the phonetics of <z> and <ff>, resonant length contrasts after unstressed vowels and morphophonemic spellings.

The project is linguistic in its core, but together with archaeology and prehistoric genetics it contributes to the cross-disciplinary endeavour of understanding this formative period in the prehistory of Europe and Asia. 7/7.

Analysing the culture-specific words in the Indo-European languages, the project examines how far back the words can be reconstructed in the shared prehistory of the languages – some can be traced back all the way to Proto-Indo-European, others to later stages. 5/7.

The most visible mark they left was linguistic: they spoke a language, Proto-Indo-European, which is not attested in writing, but is the ancestor of a number of languages spoken in large parts of the world today, including Danish, English, Spanish, Russian and Hindi. 4/7.
