9/26/24 My view of the final out for the Oakland A’s at the Coliseum… Hard to believe it’s been a year already. The right field drums will still echo for generations… #LetsGoOakland

With the timing of the full private funding being uncertain and an ever-evolving schematic construction plan, FAFO/frustration with John Fisher & Marc Badein is entering full throttle from what major venders & sub-contractors are sharing in the real estate development community…
The price tag for the A’s ballpark in Las Vegas is now expected to be higher than the cost of building Allegiant Stadium, which holds twice as many fans. Team owner John Fisher said he’s fine to pay more for a ‘unique’ venue. @howardstutz reports: https://t.co/34lMEB9jBy

Good luck with that…
Cost of A’s Las Vegas stadium could grow to $2B, owner Fisher says https://t.co/ZOZPIgR3u2

Solid thread filled with facts and common sense, things you will find zero of in local coverage.
The A’s held their Las Vegas stadium groundbreaking this week—a major public milestone. But when you step back, the picture that emerges is less about construction progress and more about optics. Here’s why from a capital markets banker’s perspective. 🧵 (🧵1/14)

The day after Fitch reaffirmed MLB's Club Trust Indenture w/ a note about the Trust's lending capacity increasing from $1.4B to $2.5B, A's created "Athletics Facility Fund, LLC". MLB teams can borrow from League's trust. Not sure if that's the A's intent. https://t.co/gHUcwqxGC6

A former Nev, state senator: “The one thing people are waiting to see is the money, right? They’re going to be so far into this where it’s like, all right, this is do-or-die time. Until it’s laid out in full, there will still be those questions. … it’s still a work in progress.”

FAFO re: John Fisher. The ballpark is likely gonna go above $2B and still doesn’t have a “guaranteed maximum price” agreement from construction vendors as expressly required by SB1 as passed in 2023. Reputable vendors are hesitant to lock-in a price guarantee years in advance.
“Groundbreaking is not an actual day on the construction timeline…it’s a day on the PR timeline.” -@DavidPSamson of @NPDSclips Watch full collab as Brodie & David go over all things ATH’s. 📺: https://t.co/qePlBTy1hU

I turned 40 this year and boom, immediately got diagnosed with a hernia. I’ve got surgery for it tomorrow… 🫠 I cannot wait to get this sucker fixed and get me back to normal. Then I will be able to actually attend @OaklandBallers and @oaklandrootssc games without discomfort.

I spent the last few months reporting on the strangest story in sports: the surreal, high-stakes experiment of the "Sacramento" A's. It’s a story about rootedness, compromise, & the competition between cities for big-league status. Out now in the @ringer

The A’s three-year stay in Sacramento is a potential coup for the proud underdog sports town. It’s also a mess. What’s the price of big league dreams?

I’m hearing similar… “Philp: Unless something changes fast, this could be the most phony groundbreaking in sports history, a rental bulldozer & no real money to back it up. You don’t start building a mega-project without all financing first lined up.” https://t.co/k2pJm9DiEA

Athletics Owner John Fisher is on the hook for more than $1 billion for his new home in Las Vegas. Two opinion writers disagree on what happens next.

If the A’s are batting, why is the first base coach wearing a Yankees uniform?

Oakland fans are incredible. The A’s took away their fan fest years ago. The A’s, Raiders, and Warriors all moved away. So…local groups, clubs, and organizations still all get together to put on a Fan Fest for the local teams that remain. Oakland is relentless and inevitable.

“If John’s using our investors’ money to fund the park, it needs to be at the team’s current valuation. Why would we pay tomorrow’s price for today’s asset that we cause to appreciate in value? Sorry, that’s not how it works. Once John & Sandy understand, we’re ready.” -Financier
Hearing that there are stupid-rich investors interested in owning a portion of the A’s in Vegas, but the major hold up is the valuation methodology - specifically agreeing upon the investment/equity ratios today in relation to the valuation on a pre-Vegas move vs. post-Vegas move
